By Jeremy D. Joy “And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all” (Ephesians 1:22-23).
The Greek word for “church” is “ekklesia” meaning “the called out ones.” The church is the called of God, but God has constantly called His people. He called Abraham from Ur of the Chaldees and then He called Him again from Haran to the promised land. He called Moses from the wilderness, Israel from Egypt, and the twelve tribes from their wandering into their inheritance. He called His people from their idolatry and when they would not respond to His call, He called them again from captivity. Christians are the called of God today. The church is sometimes misunderstood, but it is simply people who have been called from their past sins to serve Jesus who is the King of kings and Lord of lords (1 Peter 2:9-10). Are you answering your call to serve?
