Des-ti-ny

By Jeremy D. Joy

"For whom He foreknew, He a/so predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren!! (Romans 8:29).

On the road to Damascus, the Lord stopped Paul dead in his tracks and warned him to quit persecuting Christians. The Lord then said, "I have appeared to you for this purpose" (Acts 26: 16). The Lord explained that Paul would preach to the Gentiles and turn them from darkness to light (Acts 26:17-18). This sense of destiny fueled his ministry. He frequently used the words appointed, called, sent, and ordained. He was a man on a mission. Our conversion may not involve the same drama, but we are destined to be conformed to the image of Jesus here and in the hereafter. Too many Christians and churches settle for mediocrity, but God wants more for us. If something is missing in your life, you can discover your purpose by being a true disciple of Jesus.
