Jesus made a sudden impact on both soldiers and criminals at His crucifixion even though they were on opposite sides of the law. The unexpected manner in which Jesus reacted to them shows the purpose of His death - to reconcile people to God - and that through His death, we can have direct, immediate access to our loving Father at all times.
